The HEALTH Benefits of Swimming!

As a QUALIFIED Fitness Instructor I can testify to the fact that Swimming is  a REALLY EXCELLENT way to keep up a regular exercise program that has a multitude of benefits for your body and overall wellness. 

Especially useful for those who want a low-impact workout that doesn't stress their muscles or cardiovascular system too much. In simple terms what this means is that Swimming is a good all body workout that exercises all of the main muscle groups without putting too much stress on the heart and other muscles. 

This is excellent for those recovering from an injury or accident where their muscles may not be able to endure a regular aerobics exercise program.  Also its great exercise for post natal mothers to get back into exercising after childbirth. And the water is also a really enjoyable way to use the natural power of resistance to tone muscles. 

Another additional benefit of exercising in the water is that its cooling and provides a mental health benefit that is even more intensified than regular exercise. So its an excellent remedy for stress, anxiety, depression and whole host of other Mental illnesses.

WELcome to the SWIM JAMAICA Blog!

WELCOME to the Swim Jamaica BLOG!...

THIS BLOG serves as a Online Noticeboard and Forum related to all matters concerning Swimming in Jamaica at Beaches and Rivers etc, safely and FIWI (trans - OUR OWN) "Swim Jamaica" Swimming Lessons & Instruction Program or Private Coaching Sessions.

Culturally its always been a contradiction that although WE Jamaicans are completely surrounded by Jamaica, there has always been a fear of the perils of swimming in the depths that is shared by many. A lack of encouragement culturally for us to excel in the Sports Arena for Swimming had recently been tuned around by our own Swimming Star, Ms Alia Atkinson.

It is the intention of Swim Jamaica to further develop this area and encourage greater access to proper Swimming Instruction and classes to help develop this area of Sports, Leisure and Recreation. And also help equip persons with valuable life saving skills, that may even make a difference to help them save their own or somebody else's life, in the event of an emergency at Sea or at the River or even in a Swimming Pool.
